💧 The Need

Millions of families still lack access to safe, clean drinking water. In many communities, people — often women and children — walk long distances every day just to collect water that is frequently contaminated and unsafe to drink, leading to preventable illness and ongoing hardship.

The lack of sustainable water sources such as properly constructed wells and community filtration systems leaves entire villages vulnerable. Without them, diseases spread easily, nutrition suffers, and daily life becomes a constant struggle for survival.

Clean water is essential for life — it protects health, restores dignity, and supports stable communities. Your support helps bring safe, reliable water sources to those who need them most.

Water Donation Options

1. Shallow Hand Pump – £150

Shallow hand pumps are typically 30–70 feet deep and manually dug by local labour. A 3-inch liner is used, with water accessed through a manual hand pump, making it a simple and affordable solution for small families.

Dig time: Up to 3 days
Project completion: Up to 4 weeks
Real cost range: £60–£200

Note: We recommend donors consider deeper water projects where possible, as deeper sources usually provide cleaner and healthier water.

2. Community Hand Pump – £450

Community hand pumps are installed in accessible areas to serve several nearby homes and families. These wells are typically 50–100 feet deep and use a higher quality heavy-duty hand pump designed for regular community use.

Dig time: Up to 1 week
Project completion: Up to 6 weeks
Real cost range: £350–£550
Share the cost: 2 donors @ £250 each

3. Deep Bore Well Pump – from £950+

Deep bore wells are drilled using machinery to depths of 150–300 feet, providing cleaner and healthier underground water. Suitable for multiple families and small-scale farming, these systems can be fitted with manual hand pumps, electric motor pumps, or a combination of both.

Drill time: Up to 3 weeks
Project completion: Up to 3 months
Real cost range: £800–£1,300
Share the cost: 2 donors @ £600 each

4. Community Filtration System – from £5,000+

Community filtration systems provide multi-stage water treatment for larger communities using solar-powered or electric systems. They remove bacteria, sediments, and contaminants to provide safe and reliable drinking water.

Systems include ongoing servicing and maintenance to ensure long-term operation and sustainability.

Installation time: Up to 3 months
Project completion: Up to 6 months
Real cost range: £4,000–£6,000
Share the cost: 2 donors @ £3,000 each

5. Donate Any Amount

You can donate from as little as £5 towards our restricted Water Fund, helping support current and future water projects.

These ring-fenced funds are used exclusively for water wells, pumps, filtration systems, repairs, maintenance, and other water-related projects, helping provide communities with safe and reliable access to water for years to come.

Important Information

All prices shown are estimated guide prices and may vary depending on location, ground conditions, depth requirements, materials, labour costs, local regulations, and other circumstances.

Where project costs are lower than expected, any surplus funds will be allocated to the One World Relief Water Fund to support additional water projects, maintenance, repairs, and future water-related initiatives.

Where possible, projects include a personalised plaque, photographs, location details, and a personal video update, allowing donors to see the impact of their contribution. Availability may vary depending on local conditions, connectivity, security considerations, permissions, and accessibility.

Why fixed costs?

We use fixed outline costs for our water wells and filtration projects to provide a simple, clear guide for donors and standard starting points for each type of project.

In reality, the final cost can vary on the ground due to factors such as water depth, terrain, access for equipment, transport challenges, and local material or labour costs. Each location is different, so pricing can change based on real conditions.

Because of this, there are often no surplus funds. If a shortfall occurs, our general water fund is used to complete the project, or donors may be asked to top up if needed.

Any remaining funds are always redirected into other water projects, ensuring continued delivery of clean water to those in need.

Together, we quench thirst

Every well, pump, and filtration system brings far more than water. It means children no longer miss school to fetch water, parents spend less time collecting unsafe supplies, and families can focus on building stable, healthier lives.

Access to clean water helps reduce disease, improve hygiene, and strengthen nutrition and daily living conditions. It also supports small livelihoods such as farming and livestock, helping communities become more self-sufficient and resilient over time.

Your support doesn’t just provide water — it breaks the cycle of illness and hardship, restoring dignity and creating real opportunities for growth, education, and stability.
