Turkey Earthquake Response
The Need
On February 6th, 2023, Turkey was struck by a series of powerful earthquakes, among the deadliest in modern history. The devastation claimed over 55,000 lives and injured more than 100,000 people. Entire towns were reduced to rubble, leaving millions displaced and in urgent need of shelter, food, and medical aid.
The crisis also compounded the struggles of millions of Syrian refugees already living in Turkey. Many of them, who had already fled war and loss, once again found themselves without homes or stability. Even today, families continue to face hardship as they try to rebuild their lives amidst ongoing economic and social challenges.
Our Work & Activities
Before One World Relief was even formally established, our founders and donors were among those who responded swiftly to the Turkey earthquake — providing immediate emergency relief, food, clean water, and shelter to affected families.
Working with local partners, we distributed essential supplies, supported temporary housing, and provided basic healthcare and hygiene support. As the emergency phase transitioned into recovery, our focus turned to helping families move from temporary shelters to more stable housing and regain their livelihoods.
Today, we continue to support vulnerable families and refugee communities across Turkey, helping them recover and rebuild with dignity and hope.
